Vidar Thorkelsson, CEO of Valitor

Viðar became CEO of Valitor in the summer of 2010, having previously been the CEO of the Reitir property company. Viðar has extensive management experience in the commercial sector, both in the financial sector and in holding companies. For a number of years he was a regional and branch manager for Landsbanki Íslands, and he has held management positions in the holding companies Vodafone and 365.

Viðar has a degree in business administration from the University of Iceland, and he obtained an MBA from the Peter F. Drucker Management Center in the USA in 1993.

 

Astvaldur Johannsson, Cross Border Division

Astvaldur joined Valitor in January of 2012 as Executive Director of the Cross Border Division. Astvaldur has extensive international experience after serving  in various  management positions for ten years at ÖSSUR, a leading orthopeadic company within the medical device market, both abroad and at HQ in Iceland. For a number of years he was a member of the executive team at Nyherji (previously IBM Iceland), an IT company providing S/W and H/W solutions for the local market. As a Managing Director he has also lead the Sales and Marketing Division at Penninn, a leading bookstore- and office supply retail chain.

Astvaldur has a degree in Management Information Systems from The Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh Scotland and holds an MBA from the University of Iceland.

  

Sigurhans Vignir, Corporate Solutions

Sigurhans joined Valitor in 1990 and has since worked in most of its departments. In the spring of 2007 he became Executive Director of Corporate Solutions.

Sigurhans has a BSc in business administration from Reykjavík University and a diploma in marketing and export sciences from Continuing Education – University of Iceland.

 

Bergsveinn Sampsted, Card Solutions

Bergsveinn has held the position of Executive Director of Card Solutions since 2007. He was previously the CEO of Íslensk Getspá (Icelandic Lotteries). Bergsveinn was one of Valitor's first employees. He began working for the company in 1983, and has been a valued member of the team for a number of years.

Bergsveinn holds a degree in marketing and business administration from the University of South Carolina in the USA.

 

Regin Mogensen, Risk Management & Compliance

Regin joined Valitor early 2010 as the Executive Director of Risk Management & Compliance. Regin was previously employed at Kaupthing bank hf. as a Senior Lawyer and at New Kaupthing hf. as the Director of Legal Affairs. Prior to that Regin worked as the principal attorney for the Competition Authority.

Regin is an Attorney at Law with a law degree from the University of Iceland and a licensed stock broker.

 

Ingibjorg Arnarsdottir, Finances

Ingibjörg joined Valitor as Executive Director of Finances in the summer of 2008. She was previously employed as a Loans Officer at Glitnir, 2007–08. From 2001 to 2007, Ingibjörg was the Managing Director of the wholesale company Karl K. Karlsson.

Ingibjörg is a business administrator with a Cand.oecon degree from the Auditing Department of the University of Iceland and an MSc from the Finance Cass Business School in London.

 

Kristjan Hardarson, Marketing and Development

Kristján joined VALITOR in 2008 as Executive Director of Marketing and Development. Kristján was previously employed as the Managing Director of Marketing and Business Development for Spron - Savings Bank 2001–08.

Kristján holds a BSc degree in Marketing and an MA degree in International Marketing from the University of Alabama in the USA.

 

Steinunn Sigurbjornsdottir, Information Technology

Steinunn has held the position of Executive Director of IT since the spring of 2009. She first began working for Valitor, or Greiðslumiðlun Visa Ísland as it was then known, in 1996 as a software specialist for two years and again in 2002–09, most recently as Manager of Software Development. Steinunn was previously employed by Verðbréfamarkaður Íslandsbanka, 1989–96, Kommunedata in Denmark, 1998–2000 and Cap Gemini, Denmark 2000–02.

Steinunn graduated as a systems analyst from the Reykjavík University (Tölvuháskóla VÍ) in 1989.
