Vidar Thorkelsson, Chief Executive Officer
Vidar Thorkelsson joined Valitor as Chief Executive Officer in 2010. He was previously CEO of the real-estate company Reitir and has extensive management experience in the commercial sector, both the financial sector and holding companies. For a number of years he held management roles with Landsbanki Islands and the holding companies Vodafone and 365.
Vidar holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Iceland and an MBA from the Peter F. Drucker Management Center, USA.
Astvaldur Johannsson, Executive Director International Acquiring
Astvaldur Johannsson joined Valitor in 2012. He has extensive international experience, working previously in various management positions for global orthopaedics specialists Össur. Prior to that Astvaldur was a member of the executive team at Nyherji (previously IBM Iceland) and Managing Director at Penninn, a leading retail chain in books and office supplies.
Astvaldur holds a degree in Management Information Systems from Heriot-Watt University in Scotland and an MBA from the University of Iceland.
Sigurhans Vignir, Executive Director Corporate Solutions
Sigurhans Vignir joined Valitor in 1990 and has gained invaluable experience working across the spectrum of company functions. In 2007 he became Executive Director of Corporate Solutions.
Sigurhans holds a BSc in Business Administration from Reykjavík University, as well as a Diploma in Marketing and Export Sciences from the University of Iceland.
Bergsveinn Sampsted, Executive Director Card Solutions
Bergsveinn Sampsted has held the position of Executive Director of Card Solutions since 2007. Previously the CEO of Íslensk Getspá (Icelandic Lotteries), he was also one of Valitor's first employees. He began working for the company in 1983 and has been a valued member of the team for a number of years.
Bergsveinn holds a degree in Marketing and Business Administration from the University of South Carolina, USA.
Regin Mogensen, Executive Director Risk Management & Compliance
Regin Mogensen joined Valitor in 2010. Previously a senior lawyer and Director of Legal Affairs at Kaupthing and New Kaupthing respectively, Regin also worked as the principal attorney for the competition authority in Iceland.
Regin is an Attorney at Law, with a Law degree from the University of Iceland, and a licensed stock broker.
Ingibjorg Arnarsdottir, Executive Director Finance
Ingibjorg Arnarsdottir joined Valitor in 2008. Previously a Senior Credit Manager at Glitnir, she was also Managing Director of the wholesale company Karl K. Karlsson.
Ingibjorg is an experienced business administrator with a Cand.oecon (Economics) degree from the Auditing Department of the University of Iceland. She also holds an MSc from the Faculty of Finance at the Cass Business School in London.
Kristjan Hardarson, Executive Director Marketing and Development
Kristjan Hardarson joined Valitor in 2008 as Executive Director of Marketing and Development. He was previously Managing Director of Marketing and Business Development at Spron, a national savings bank.
Kristjan holds a BSc degree in Marketing and an MA in International Marketing from the University of Alabama, USA.
Steinunn Sigurbjornsdottir, Executive Director Information Technology
Steinunn Sigurbjornsdottir has led the IT function at Valitor since 2009. She began working for the Company in 1996, first as a software specialist and later as Manager of Software Development. Steinunn worked previously with Cap Gemini and Kommunedata in Denmark, as well as Stock Market Íslandsbanka.
Steinunn graduated as a systems analyst from Reykjavík University.
