Service announcement: Caring for inactive card machines.

January 5, 2021

Unfortunately, following the government’s recent announcement of a national lockdown, many UK businesses have been forced to close their doors once again. Here at Valitor, we want to ensure that when you can re-open, that your return to work is as smooth as possible and your terminal can function how it should.

Please follow the simple steps below to ensure your terminal’s functionality for when you return.

If you have an Ingenico terminal:

Take the following steps to remove the battery:

  1. Remove the terminal from the base, and press and hold Clear and the . key at the same time to turn it off.
  2. Remove the back cover to expose the battery pack.
  3. The battery is connected to the terminal by a connector (three wires and a small white plug). You need to remove the entire battery pack, including the connector.
  4. Press the locking mechanism on the connector, and slide out. Release pressure as soon as the connector becomes unclipped.
  5. Carefully remove the entire battery pack, including the connector.
  6. Ensure the battery is kept in a safe location, where it will not overheat.
  7. Remove any cables connecting the terminal to a base station (if you have one). If your Ingenico terminal does not have a battery, simply remove the power cable from the unit.

To replace the battery on your return:

  1. Remove the back cover of the terminal.
  2. Insert the battery connector in the socket.
  3. Replace the battery.
  4. Close the cover.
  5. Charge the battery before use.
